Law Square and PwC Belgium launch survey on the State of Data Privacy (GDPR) in Belgium

on Dec 8, 2016 in News

New privacy regulation coming soon

Protection of personal data plays an increasingly important role within organisations. Technological developments enable organisations to collect and process a larger amount of personal data. At the same time, our society is becoming much more critical on the amount of personal data collected and processed.

More personal data, more risks for companies

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) imposes stringent personal data protection requirements that companies will have to comply with by 25 May 2018. It is therefore critical for your organisation to understand the importance of privacy and data protection and how these fit into your overall business strategy. Clearly, privacy and data protection are turning into a real risk for companies. In case of non-compliance, fines can go up to four percent of a company’s annual worldwide turnover or 20 million euros, whichever is highest.

How ready are organisations on the Belgian market?

The purpose of this State of Data Privacy Survey, jointly organised by PwC Belgium and Law Square, is to gain insight on the maturity of Belgian organisations regarding personal data protection and their readiness towards the GDPR. This survey underlines the great importance we attach to privacy and data protection. We thank you in advance for your support in this initiative.

The online questionnaire will be available until 14 December 2016. We expect to present the results of the survey on 28 January: the 2017 Data Protection Day.
